Travis Pastrana hurt in nasty fall at X Games

LOS ANGELES - Action sports star Travis Pastrana has broken bones in his right foot and ankle after a nasty fall at the X Games.

ESPN spokesman Danny Chi says Pastrana's injury will require surgery, but that he's out of the hospital and resting at his hotel.

Pastrana is scheduled to make his NASCAR Nationwide series debut on Saturday at Clermont, Ind. He was hurt while competing in the Moto X best trick event.

"I am sorry this happened and will be back in action as soon as I can. I look forward to Pastranathon 2012 at X Games 18," Pastrana said through Chi.

Pastrana has captured 16 gold medals in the X Games and has won multiple supercross, motocross and American rally championships. On July 15, Pastrana finished 22nd in his debut in the NASCAR K&N Pro Series East at Loudon, N.H.
