Maui Land & Pineapple Co. suing Maui County -- The Maui Land & Pineapple Co. is suing Maui County, claiming the county is forcing the development company to convert up to 50 percent of its resort condos to affordable housing units. The developer's permit is for 1,050 hotel rooms and 800 residential units, but the dispute is aimed at the company's mixed-use development of 196 condos. Under present affordable housing regulations, the company reports it would have to convert 98 units to affordable housing. [Source: Honolulu Advertiser]

Disney to open resort in Oahu -- Walt Disney Parks & Resorts plan to open a resort in Oahu that includes 350 hotel rooms and 480 villas on 21 acres at Ko Olina Resort & Marina in West Oahu. The resort plans to have a fake volcano and actors playing mermaids. [Source: Pacific Business News]

Doubletree opens its first European hotel in Milan -- Doubletree by Hilton opened its first European hotel, Doubletree by Hilton Milan, a full-service brand , located in the city's business district.
