Top GOP House Leaders Endorse McCain
The top three Republicans in the House announced their support for John McCain Wednesday morning, giving the Arizona senator more support from his traditional adversaries in the House.
Minority Leader John A. Boehner (R-Ohio), Minority Whip Roy Blunt (R-Mo.) and Republican Conference Chairman Adam Putnam (R-Fla.) all endorsed McCain during a Wednesday morning press conference following his brief appearance before House Republicans at the Capitol Hill Club.
Putnam initially backed former Tennessee Sen. Fred Thompson before he pulled out of the race. Boehner and Blunt had not yet endorsed anyone and repeatedly told reporters they would remain neutral.
