Top 10 Summer Reading Books for Teens

Are you having difficulty getting your teenager to read books this summer? If so, here is a summer reading list that might make even the most reluctant teen pick up a book.

The American Library Association compiled this list of the top 10 summer reading books, which includes fiction and non-fiction selections. The target audience for this summer reading list are teenagers who aren't avid readers. If the top 10 book list doesn't get your teen excited, the librarians also assembled a more extensive summer reading list of 101 books.

Here are the books that even the most reluctant reader won't be able to put down:

Street Art Book: 60 Artists in Their Own Words by Ric Blackshaw and Liz Farrelly.

The Naked Truth: Young, Beautiful and (HIV) Positive, Marvelyn Brown.

Perfect Chemistry by Simone Elkeles.

Jumping Off Swings. Jo Knowles.

Dope Sick by Walter Dean Myers.

The Vampire Book by DK Publishing.

Lockdown: Escape from Furnace 1 by Alexander Gordon Smith.

Show Me How: 500 Things You Should Know; Instructions for Life From the Everyday to the Exotic by Derek Fagerstrom and Lauren Smith.

High Voltage Tattoo by Kat Von D.

Paranormal Caught on Film by Melvyn Willin.

My Summer Reading List for Teenagers

Happily, there are many teens out there who do love to read. Consequently, I want to suggest five more sophisticated books for teenagers, which happen to be among my favorites:

Middlesex by Jeffrey Eugenides.

The Power of One by Bryce Courtenay.

The Good Earth by Pearl S. Buck.

In Cold Blood by Truman Capote.

The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo by Stieg Larsson. (Has anyone not read this book yet!)
