Toddler's Birthday Bash Becomes Beer-Soaked Brawl

Man involved in "Beer Brawl," accompanied by police officer (WKRC)

ELMWOOD PLACE, Ohio (CBS/WKRC/AP) It began as a birthday party for a 3-year-old.

It turned into a beer-soaked brawl with hurtling bottles and two men sent to the hospital, said police in southwest Ohio.

Elmwood Place police tell The Cincinnati Enquirer that 30 kids watched as dozens of adults fought in a party hall near Cincinnati about 1 a.m. Tuesday.  Police say the birthday child's father was asked to leave the party earlier in the evening, but returned with some friends and that's when the fight broke out, according to CBS affiliate WKRC.

None of the children were hurt, but police Chief William Peskin says broken beer bottles cut one man's eye and hurt another's head, neck and chest. He says the amount of blood and broken glass at the party was unbelievable, saying it looked like "the floor of a slaughterhouse," reported WKRC.

Six area police departments responded to the fight. Four people were taken into custody. So far, no charges have been filed.
