Three Things Small Businesses Need To Know
Let's face it, there are a mass of skills any small business owner needs to acquire to succeed. In this video interview with coach and author, Roland Hanekroot, we hear of three that are essential.
Roland has recently written and published a book that lists 10 truths, here are his Top 3:
1. Be clear on why you exist
For a business to prosper, Roland asserts that we need to be able to clearly articulate our key purpose and, importantly, why our customers should give a damn.
2. Learn to delegate
Second on the list is an ability to delegate and indeed, "delegate with control". Roland emphasises the need for measurement, tracking and, of course, the importance of keeping your finger on the pulse.
3. Value your own time
Thirdly and finally in this discussion, we should ask ourselves if we're spending time in the correct areas of the business. Roland cites the example of a carpenter who is brilliant at his job, but just can't help himself when it comes to working "on the tools". For our businesses to grow, we need to be able to get away from the "no-one does like me" behaviour.
I hope you enjoy the interview.
