(CBS) OAK CLIFF, Texas - Three teen boys have been charged with capital murder in connection to the death of an Oak Cliff man Sunday night. CBS Dallas reports up to eight teens were involved.

According to the CBS local affiliate, Sam Morris was walking home from a store when the teenagers tried to rob him. Police reportedly said the teens chased him and the victim fought back. In an attempt to get away, Morris was pushed into the street and a car passing by hit him then drove away.

Investigators reportedly said the 61-year-old victim likely died as a result of getting hit by the vehicle.

The station reports authorities have arrested a 13-year-old and two 14-year-old boys suspected of beating Morris. The youngest of the eight boys involved is a 10-year-old who witnessed the attack.

Robert Morris, brother of the victim, told CBS Dallas that his brother was a cook in the Army and had just moved in with him. He told the station that the arrests made in connection to the crime do not bring him much relief as his brother is already gone.

Investigators reportedly said they are still looking for the driver of the car.
