Thousands of lanterns fill the night sky in Poland

(CBS) - And now for something incredibly gorgeous. Poznan, Poland was the scene of thousands of paper lanterns filling the night sky. The event, held on June 21st, is part of the festival surrounding Midsummer Night, or St. John's Night, the shortest night of the year. Organizers estimate over 8,000 lanterns were sent into the sky.

"This was the most romantic night in Poland as thousands of pairs of eyes looked up to the night sky in wonder," one spectator told the Daily Mail.

Romantic, beautiful, incredible. Sometimes it seems like words fall short. Just enjoy the amazing image of all those lights soaring into space, and try not to thing about what happens when they all come back down.
