It’s still a week away, but House Democratic Caucus Chairman Rahm Emanuel of Illinois already seems fired up for next week’s meeting with President Bush, if the following press release is any indication:
"Democrats are ready and willing to meet with President Bush to discuss how we can change direction in Iraq,” Emanuel said. “However, the President's requests for a blank check for war and an open-ended commitment of U.S. troops are unacceptable to the American people. After four years, more than three thousand American lives and hundreds of billions of tax dollars, the President may just want another meeting, but our objective is to bring a new direction to Iraq policy."
