The Sad Case Of Raymond G. Murphy

Raymond G. Murphy earned the Congressional Medal of Honor, the Silver Star and a Purple Heart during his service as a Marine in the Korean War. He then spent much of the rest of his life working or volunteering for Veterans Affairs facilities in New Mexico.

But his accolades and service apparently aren’t enough to name a VA facility in Albuquerque after the decorated Marine.

No, instead politics – and personal politics at that – stands between Murphy and the symbolic gesture to honor his service.
