The Demise of Google Video

Google Video's director and chief businesswoman, Jennifer Feikin, has announced that she is stepping down from her post and leaving the company. Her departure isn't going to shake up the company, but it raises an important question. Why does Google Video still exist? Google bought YouTube not only to keep it away from Yahoo and Microsoft, but also because it offers a service that's superior to its own. So now that Google controls the video sharing service market through YouTube, why does it bother keeping its own inferior service around and paying for the IT and server costs? Maybe Feikin's exit signals the beginning of the end of Google Video.
