"The Avengers" to close Tribeca Film Festival
(CBS News) Superhero blockbuster "The Avengers" will cap off this year's Tribeca Film Festival.
The Marvel action flick has been chosen as the closing night film for the 11th annual festival, it was announced Wednesday.
Festival organizers said in a statement that the April 28 screening will celebrate "everyday heroes." Police, fire, and military members will be invited to attend the screening and meet the cast.
"The Avengers" stars Robert Downey Jr. as Iron Man; Scarlett Johansson as Black Widow; Mark Ruffalo as the Incredible Hulk; Chris Hemsworth as Thor; Jeremy Renner as Hawkeye; Chris Evans as Captain America; and Samuel L. Jackson as Nick Fury. The film, written and directed by Joss Whedon, will open in theaters on May 4.
The 11th annual Tribeca Film Festival runs from April 18-29.
