Thalia Assuras has been a CBS News correspondent since January 1997. In conjunction, she served as co-anchor of the short lived Off Tenth, a live daily program about people in the day's news on the CBS cable channel, Eye on People (March - June 1997).
Assuras joins CBS News from ABC, where she was an anchor for World News Now and World News This Morning (1993-96). She also served as a general assignment correspondent based in New York.
Prior to that, Assuras anchored Canada's CTV morning news broadcast, co-hosted CTV's Canada AM Weekend and substitute-anchored Canada AM and the CTV Weekend News (1992-93). In addition, she served as a field reporter for CTV and an anchor and correspondent for Canwest Global Television (1988-92).
Assuras began her journalism career in 1981 as a communications clerk for the CBC, a producer and a researcher for CBC's The Journal (1982-85) and an anchor and reporter for Toronto's City-TV (1985-88).
She was born May 27 in London, Ontario, Canada. Assuras was graduated from the University of Western Ontario in 1980 with a Bachelor of Science degree in Microbiology and Immunology and in 1981 with a Master of Arts degree in Journalism.
