(CBS/What's Trending) Texas wildfires that have burned for nearly a week continue to blaze across the state. Fueled by high winds and low humidity, the flames have scorched 1.5 million acres of land and destroyed approximately 150 homes.

The media has kept the public up to date on the situation, but several citizens are helping pass on information by taking the reporting into their own hands.
On Saturday, Possom Kingdom Lake resident Jackie Fewell created a dedicated page on her company's website to live as an online destination for people seeking eye witness reports on property conditions and the state of the fire. By Tuesday, the page raked in 123,000 views. Twitter and Facebook are proving to be lifelines for Fewell and her crew, and for those who want to stay informed and aid people affected by the tragedy. Other users are posting their thoughts along with coverage of the wildfires to further propagate the information. Despite everyones' efforts to spread information quickly to keep everyone informed, the fires continue to rage on, causing heart-breaking destruction. Firefighters from 34 states have been called in to help with the situation.
