Teen charged as adult in slaying of Indianapolis man

INDIANAPOLIS - An Indianapolis teen is charged as an adult in the slaying of a 24-year-old Indianapolis man who was killed while on his morning walk.

Police say 16-year-old Simeon Adams forced 24-year-old Nathan Trapuzzano, an expectant father, into a strip club parking lot, about a mile east of the Indianapolis Motor Speedway, on April 1 before shooting him once in the abdomen.

Adams was charged in adult court Tuesday with murder, felony murder, attempted robbery and carrying a handgun without a license. He was being held the Marion County Juvenile Center.

Police say the teenager's recovering from a gunshot wound he received during a separate shooting the same day Trapuzzano was killed.

According to CBS affiliate WISH-TV, Adams was laughing as he was brought into court Thursday for a hearing in the case.

The judge set a trial date for June 2.

Donations totaling more than $130,000 poured in for Trapuzzano's pregnant widow in the days following the slaying.
