Ted Stevens Indicted

Sen. Ted Stevens (R-Alaska) has been indicted on seven criminal charges.

The Department of Justice has announced a 1:20 p.m. ET press conference.

Sen. Daniel Inouye, a long-time Stevens friend, said he’s wasn’t surprised by the news because Stevens has been under investigation for so long. He said, however, that he believes that Stevens is innocent.

As McClatchy news is reporting, the indictment comes nearly a year after federal agents raided Stevens' home in a resort town about 40 miles south of Anchorage.
