Taylor Swift breaks her social media silence

Nothing resonates with fans quite like cuteness.

As fallout from Taylor Swift's ongoing feud with Kanye West and Kim Kardashian continues this summer, the "Shake it Off" singer has been notably silent on social media -- until now.

Swift's last online message -- minus a Throwback Thursday post last week for Selena Gomez's birthday -- was her pointed note responding to Kardashian fanning the flames over the "Famous" fallout by releasing video of West's phone call with Swift during which she seemed to approve of the song.

The ensuing backlash has apparently kept her off social media, but a combination of factors this week made it impossible for her to stay quiet.

First, Instagram introduced a new "stories" feature remarkable similar to Snapchat. Then, one of Swift's cats -- the one named Olivia Benson, after the "Law & Order: SVU" character -- did something adorable.

Because there's always room for more adorable cat videos on the internet.
