T-shirt curses cops in court, but man wearing it still wins

BROWARD COUNTY, Fla. - A Florida man who wore a shirt with the words "f*** the police" to his traffic court hearing against state troopers won his case, reports CBS Tampa.

Michael Burns argued in the case that he was unfairly pulled over and targeted by Florida state troopers after he videotaped them earlier in the night.

"I routinely record cops when I see them. I saw a group of about 10 on the side of Highway 27 in Broward County, Florida kicking people out that were hanging out at 1:30 in the morning. It was public property and I was told they were only being kicked out to 'ruin their fun' by the first officer I contacted," Burns wrote in a post to the video sharing site LiveLeak, according to the station.

According to CBS Tampa, Burns alleges in the post that one of the officers told him he had to leave and that as he drove off, a police car began to follow him and eventually pulled him over. He says the officer who pulled him over was the same one who had told him to stop filming. Six other cop cars pulled up shortly afterwards, Burns says.

Authorities blamed the traffic stop on a sticker that they claimed was obstructing the view of his license plate, according to Burns.

The sticker read "FOP" -- as in Fraternal Order of Police, CBS Tampa reported.

"I refused to answer any of his questioned [sic] and advised him I would see him in court to fight it when he told me I had to take it off," Burns wrote on LiveLeak.

Burns says that despite his chosen attire for the court hearing, he "somehow still managed to win."

A judge determined police had not met the burden of proof to justify the ticket Burns had been issued.
