A man who may have been despondent over facing foreclosure barricaded himself in his Los Angeles-area home late Wednesday, leading to a overnight standoff with a SWAT team and Los Angeles police, but surrendered peacefully Thursday morning.

The story was reported in Los Angeles' Daily Breeze newspaper.

The man surrendered at about 5:15 a.m., according to Sgt. Teresa Wilson a watch commander in the LAPD's Van Nuys Division.

Dozens of neighbors were evacuated and a man inside the house, who may have been a roommate or renter was taken out by SWAT members.
