(CBS/AP) ARLINGTON, Texas - Police have surrounded a North Texas apartment complex where a suspected gunman remains barricaded after an attack that left at least one person shot.

Arlington police Lt. Christopher Cook says officers identified one wounded person in the incident that began Monday morning. Cook had no immediate details on the victim's condition or any possible relationship with the suspect.

Cook says that at around 6 a.m. on Monday police responded to 911 calls about shots fired. He says the suspect also fired at police who secured the scene. No officers were reported hurt.

CBS DFW reports that authorities are trying to negotiate with the man, who police say might have access to "multiple weaons."

Cook couldn't immediately provide details on a possible motive for the shootings at the complex in North Arlington, midway between Dallas and Fort Worth.

According to the station, SWAT officers are on the scene and are helping residents of surrounding apartments evacuate.
