Suspect arrested in abduction, murder of Del. woman who went missing Monday

(CBS) WILMINGTON, Del. - Delaware police have arrested a suspect and charged him with the murder of a woman who was taken while walking her dog Monday morning.

CBS Philly reports Dwight L. Smith, 24, is facing several charges, including first degree murder, in the case of Marsha Lee. 

The 65-year-old Wilmington woman was walking her dog around 9 a.m. when the incident allegedly occurred. A witness told law enforcement officials he heard screeching tires and then saw a man in his thirties putting something in the rear door of his red Hummer before driving off.

Police found pieces of Lee's clothing at the place where witnesses say the incident occurred, a block away from her home.

Her husband reported her missing about an hour later when the dog returned to their home alone.

After the suspected abduction was reported, police tracked down the red SUV a few blocks away and pulled over the driver, Smith. He was taken into custody for questioning.

At 9 p.m. Monday, police found the body of a female that investigators say has been tentatively identified as that of Marsha Lee.

Smith has reportedly been charged with two counts of first-degree murder and one count of kidnapping. He is being held in the Howard R. Young Correctional Facility. There is no bail.

Officials are still investigating the cause of death and await an autopsy to confirm the victim's identity.
