PHILADELPHIA (CBS) Susan Finkelstein, the 43-year-old woman who was arrested for allegedly offering to sell her body in exchange for World Series tickets, says she only wanted to see her beloved Phillies with her beloved husband of almost twelve years, but insists there was no sex-for-tickets deal.
"I don't believe I did anything wrong," the lifelong Phillies fan explained to CBS affiliate KYW-TV on Wednesday. "I was just trying to see if I could get some cheap tickets and seeing what was out there."
Police in Bensalem say Finkelstein, 43, solicited an undercover police officer to perform sex acts for World Series tickets. The undercover officer connected with Finkelstein after seeing her ad on Craigslist that read: "Desperate Blonde Needs WS Tix."
Finkelstein described herself as a "gorgeous, tall, buxom blonde diehard Phillies fan" in desperate need of two World Series Tickets. The rest of the ad read: "Price negotiable--- I'm the creative type! Maybe we can help each other!"
"This is just an individual that got caught up in it, I guess in the hype of the Phillies World Series. She wanted her ticket at any cost and was willing to go the extra mile," Fred Harran of the Bensalem Police Department said.
Finkelstein told the Philly station that she was only trying to make her ad stand out on the popular classified Web site.
"I figured people would probably be more likely to answer an ad if someone was described as attractive," Finkelstein said to the station.VIDEO COURTESY OF CBS AFFILIATE KYW-TV
Investigators said undercover officers met with Finkelstein at a bar in Bensalem and that her offer was simple.
"She basically said that she would trade sexual favors for a Phillies ticket. She was creative, she didn't have any money. I don't know what the Series tickets are going for, but she decided that she would give herself up for some World Series tickets," Harran explained.
Finkelstein has been charged with soliciting prostitution and related offenses.
In an ironic twist, Finkelstein will end up attending a World Series game anyway thanks to a gift from someone who heard her story.
According to Bensalem police, Finkelstein will receive a summons via mail to appear in court, the date yet to be determined.
