Supreme Court rebuffs Wesley Snipes' tax appeal

(CBS/AP) WASHINGTON - The Supreme Court refused Monday to hear an appeal from actor Wesley Snipes, regarding his conviction and prison sentence for tax evasion.

Snipes was convicted in 2008 on three misdemeanor counts of willful failure to file income tax returns during 1999-2001and began his three year sentence in December at a federal minimum security prison.

Charges were brought against Snipes in Florida where he held his driver's license, rather than New York City where the actor says he lived. The lower courts refused to let him have an evidentiary hearing on this issue.

Wesley Snipes has appeared in dozens of films, from "White Men Can't Jump" and "Demolition Man" in the early 1990s to the blockbuster Blade trilogy.
