Student Shot near California High School

A student has been shot near Deer Valley High School in Antioch, Calif. in an apparent drive-by incident, reports CBS Station KPIX in San Francisco.

Antioch Police responded to a report at about 8:30 a.m. of a juvenile male shot near the campus. The victim, a male student at Deer Valley who has not been identified, had been shot multiple times, police said.

The victim was transported to the hospital via helicopter, according to Antioch Police. His condition was unknown.

Antioch Police said apparently there was an exchange of words between a group of males the victim was with and another group in a car. Shots were fired from the vehicle which fled, and the victim was hit, according to investigators.

No suspects have been apprehended in the shooting.

A woman answering the phone in the Antioch Unified School District superintendent's office said the shooting prompted a lockdown at Deer Valley
and other schools in the district..

She said at about 10 a.m. that the lockdown was being lifted at all schools.
