Stocktwits Raises $800,000 In First Round; Premium Option Coming

Stocktwits, a startup that lets investors track conversations about stocks on Twitter, has raised $800,000 in a first round from True Ventures. In December, Stocktwits raised $800,000 in a seed round. On his blog, co-founder Howard Lindzon writes, "Not much will change for us other than some aggressive moves with product and features as we deploy capital on coding and product." The company says that Stocktwits"as you see it today"will remain free although it is also preparing to charge for a new, premium offering. Lindzon tells paidContent that the premium offering will include "deeper search, groups, filters, charting and tagging." AllThingsD first reported the funding news.
