Stern Finds A Home At CBS
Radio shock-jock Howard Stern is ready to star on a new late night TV show that would air on twelve CBS-owned stations, the New York Daily News reported Tuesday.
The CBS Stations Group is expected to announce Wednesday a deal for the show which would compete with NBC's Saturday Night Live.
The format of the show is not set yet, but according to Variety magazine, sources the speculation is that it will be a mix of celebrity guests, scripted comedy bits, and other Stern-style shenanigans.
According to USA Today, the new show would air on CBS owned stations beginning in August, and the New York Daily News reports that CBS affiliates have the option of dropping the show if they are uncomfortable with Stern's often ribald humor.
Nevertheless, CBS Eyemark Entertainment syndication unit is still set to distribute the series nationally if it performs well on the CBS stations.
