(CBS/AP) NEW YORK - Here comes another e-book exclusive from horror master Stephen King.

Scribner announced Thursday that "Mile 81," a "chilling story" set at a rest stop on the Maine Turnpike, will go on sale Sept. 1 at a suggested price of $2.99. The short story will be available in digital format only.

The new book will also include an excerpt from the Maine author's upcoming novel, "11/22/63," to be published in November.

Klout, a San Francisco-based website that helps measure online influence, will allow some users to download "Mile 81" for free.

King, the author of more than four dozen novels, has a long history of writing stories as e-exclusives. His "Riding the Bullet" novella was an early Internet sensation when it came out in 2000. He also made one of his serialized stories available online only.
