Can Steven Spielberg direct cowboys?

Variety reports that DreamWorks has a super-secret Western in the works.

The untitled film has been given priority and reportedly will be set in the badlands of Utah. The plot is a closely guarded secret to foil potential copycats but there's speculation that Spielberg himself might direct.

The script is being written by two former speech writers for Ann Richards, ex-governor of Texas.
