Source: US Sen. Jon Kyl Won't Seek Re-election
PHOENIX (AP) - Republican U.S. Sen. Jon Kyl has decided to step down after his term ends in 2012.
A person with direct knowledge of Kyl's decision says the senator won't seek re-election. The person spoke on condition of anonymity because the decision had not been officially announced. Kyl scheduled a news conference for 10 a.m. MST.
Kyl is the second-ranking Republican in the Senate and has been in office since 1994. He is 68.
