Sophia Loren Leaves Hospital

Sophia Loren was released from the hospital Tuesday following treatment for an irregular heartbeat, her publicist said.

"She's left the hospital and will stay in New York for a month resting," publicist Beebe Kline said in Los Angeles. Loren will stay with a friend, Kline said.

Kline said she didn't know when Loren, 63, was admitted, and she refused to identify which New York hospital she was in. She did say that Loren flew to New York from Geneva on Aug. 10 to visit a friend and grew fatigued

Loren's producer-husband, Carlo Ponti, told Venice Film Festival officials that she won't be able to attend their Sept. 3 ceremony to receive an award honoring her career, according to the Milan daily Corriere della Sera.

"She must take a month to rest and look after herself," Ponti said.
