"Sons of Anarchy" kicks off its fifth season

(CBS News) Season five of "Sons of Anarchy" premiered Tuesday night, and in 90 minutes a lot changed for the Sons of Anarchy Motorcycle Club, Redwood Original (SAMCRO), including the introduction of two new characters.

SPOILER ALERT

While Jax (Charlie Hunnam) went into hiding at the end of last season, he is now in place as the new president of the club and Clay (Ron Pearlman) is seen recovering from his wounds from last season.

Meanwhile, Gemma (Katy Sagal) is seen becoming involved with a new character, Nero, played by Jimmy Smits, who describes himself as "a companionator."

The other new character  is Damon Pope (Harold Perrineau), a gangster whose daughter was run over by SAMCRO member Tig (Kim Coates) at the end of last season.

In an act of revenge, Pope goes after Tig's daughter Dawn (Rachel Miner) by setting her on fire and forcing Tig to watch.
