Sonia Varaschin, a 42-year-old woman from Ontario, was reported missing on August 30 after she failed to report to work at a Mississauga pharmaceutical company, officials told Canadian network CTV.

That same day, authorities were notified about a bloodstained vehicle parked in a neighborhood in Orangeville, nearly a mile from the nurse's home, CNN reports. When police entered Varaschin's townhouse, they found a considerable amount of blood splattered throughout the home.

For nearly two weeks, her family has held on, hoping that she would be found alive. But on Sunday during an extensive search, cadaver dogs reportedly found Varaschin's remains in a rural area northwest of Toronto.

Police are looking for a light brown, bloodstained fitted sheet and comforter that they suspect was removed from Varaschin's home, according to CNN.

Anyone who may have seen Varaschin or has any information is urged to call the Orangeville Police at 519-941-2522, ext. 2211. Tips can also be called in to Crime Stoppers at 800-222-TIPS.
