Some Verdicts In Sizemore Trial
A jury has reached verdicts on some of the 16 charges against actor Tom Sizemore, who is accused of abusing his former fiancee Heidi Fleiss, the judge in the case said Thursday.
Superior Court Judge Antonio Barreto Jr. had decided that as a precaution he would accept the verdicts already reached, but changed his mind when jurors sent word they wanted him to wait until they resolved the rest of the counts.
"I'm not going to do it if it's going to make the jurors uncomfortable," Barreto said after summoning lawyers to the courtroom. "I'm deferring to their wishes in this matter."
The jury was to resume deliberations Friday morning. They heard six days of testimony about the relationship between Sizemore and Fleiss, the former Hollywood madam.
Sizemore, a star of "Black Hawk Down" and "Saving Private Ryan," faces up to 13 years in prison if convicted of all 16 counts, including vandalism, threatening to inflict injury to a person or property, corporal injury resulting in a traumatic condition, and making harassing phone calls.
Fleiss and Sizemore were together for about two years. She became involved with him soon after serving 21 months in prison for money laundering, tax evasion and attempted pandering.
