Soccer Star Ronaldo Injured

A thigh injury might prevent Ronaldo from playing for Brazil in two exhibition games against the Netherlands.

The star striker, who plays for the Italian club Internazionale, gave the national team copies of medical exams done in Milan and did not seem optimistic about playing, the Estado news agency reported.

The Brazilian national team plays in Rio on Saturday, with the second game in Goiana.

Ronaldo apparently injured his left thigh May 23 in the Italian championships against Udinese and the injury worsened during a game against Bologna on May 27.

National team doctor Jose Luis Runco called the injury relatively minor and said Ronaldo should be able to join the team for the Copa America tournament, which begins June 29 in Paraguay.
