So You Think You Can Dance for Madonna?

Do these performers have what it takes to get into the groove?

More than 150 dancers have been hoping for something like a prayer as they auditioned to join just a handful of select performers who will help kick off pop-superstar Madonna's new junior clothing line, Material Girl.

So just who exactly is a Material Girl?

"A Material Girl is a girl that is interested in fashion and interested in music and interested in fun and has a sense of humor and is an adventurous human being," Madonna explained during a New York City photo shoot she oversaw featuring 17-year-old "Gossip Girl" star Taylor Momsen, the face of her clothing line.

During the auditions, one of the young contestants, Nicole, offered her definition: "A material girl is someone with style, confidence, and attitude."

The auditioning dancers may adore Madonna, but many of them weren't even born when she scored some of her biggest hits, such as "Like A Virgin" and "Holiday."

"I love Madonna, you know, my mom loves Madonna so much, and I grew up listening to her so to dance with her would be such an honor," said Yessi, another young contestant hoping to dance with one of her idols.

Madonna's junior clothing line is available at Macy's. Watch out for the 10 selected dance finalists performing for the Material Girl herself at New York's Herald Square Sept. 22.
