Snow Blankets The Flyers
Garth Snow and Alexei Kovalev gave the Pittsburgh Penguins everything they needed to end two long streaks.
Snow made 36 saves for his first shutout of the season and Kovalev scored his 11th goal as the Penguins beat the Philadelphia Flyers 1-0 on Friday.
The victory snapped Pittsburgh's 13-game regular-season winless streak in Philadelphia, and also ended the Flyers' six-game winning streak.
"We played hard and we got good goaltending on the road," Pittsburgh coach Ivan Hlinka said. "Anytime you beat somebody in the conference, you're happy."
Pittsburgh also moved past Philadelphia for first place in the Atlantic Division.
Philadelphia's Roman Cechmanek, who had won six straight games, turned aside 25 shots.

Kovalev scored with 1:27 left in the first period, taking a pass all alone in front of the net from Kip Miller and beating Cechmanek to the stick side.
Pittsburgh had a goal waved off earlier when it was ruled that Roman Simicek kicked in a loose puck while being tied up with Philadelphia's Eric Desjardins in front of the net.
Snow turned aside 17 Flyers' shots in the second period, including stopping Dan McGillis and Simon Gagne on glove saves, both in the slot on a power play. Snow made a swiping save on Todd Fedoruk in the first few minutes of the period.
"We certainly had enough shots," Flyers coach Craig Ramsay said. "We had a few rebounds, but we just couldn't get it by him. He was really sharp tonight and he was good low around the net."
Philadelphia's Daymond Langkow had the best chance in the final period as a shot sailed between Snow's pass and through the crease with just over 12 minutes to play. Philadelphia fired 11 shots on Snow in the final period.
