Sniff Out Hotspots with Pocket WiFi Radar

pocket-wifi-radar.jpgWi-Fi hotspots are all over the place these days, but it's not like you can detect them by sniffing the air. Windows Mobile PDA/smartphone users have a new ally in the search for hotspots: Pocket WiFi Radar. This cool-looking utility (which, true to its name, resembles a radar screen) not only detects hotspots in your area, but also connects to open ones automatically so you can hit the Web and check your e-mail without all the usual configuration fuss. You can even leave it running and it'll continue to search for public Wi-Fi, alerting you with a sound when it finds it and popping open your Web browser. Sounds like a must-have tool for any traveler toting a Windows Mobile device. Pocket WiFi Radar sells for $14.95, a reasonable price for such a useful bit of software.
