Smuggler hid 7 lbs. of methamphetamine in cans of nacho toppings, feds say

(CBS/AP) SAN DIEGO - Cans filled with nacho cheese and jalapeno peppers were even hotter than usual, according to U.S. Customs agents, because they also contained seven pounds of methamphetamine when a driver tried to smuggle them into this country from Mexico.

The Los Angeles Times reports federal agents said a 21-year-old Mexican citizen was arrested Tuesday on suspicion of trying to smuggle meth through the California border crossing at San Ysidro. 

The seven pounds of the drug and is worth an estimated $140,000, officials said. The cans and the driver's truck were seized at the border crossing in San Diego County.

The driver told agents he was returning to California after grocery shopping in Mexico, but officials sensed the cans were too heavy and the meth was uncovered when screened by an X-ray machine.
