Smokie Norful's 'Power'

Gospel artist Smokie Norful is promoting the special edition release of this sophomore CD/DVD, "Nothing Without You."

And he takes the stage in The Saturday Early Show's Second Cup Café. Don't miss his performance, as he sings "I need You Now," "I Understand," and "Power."

With "Nothing Without You," Norful won the 2005 Grammy Award for Best Contemporary Soul Gospel Album. Released in Oct. 2005, it debuted at No.1 in its first week.

Success is nothing new to Norful. Three years ago, he took the Gospel Music world by storm with the release of his gold-selling debut album, "I Need You Now," which stayed on the Billboard Gospel chart for two years.

And in 2003, he was named the No. 1 Gospel Artist by the industry's top trade publication, Billboard magazine.

This past June, Norful joined President George Bush and first lady Laura Bush in a private celebration of Black Music Month, performing in front of the Bushes, Cabinet members, Congressman, White House Officials and African-American leaders in the East Room of the White House.

In August of this year, he journeyed on a five-stop South African tour in support of the "Save Africa's Children" campaign, which helps the children who are either afflicted with AIDS and/or those who have been orphaned by the current pandemic of the deadly disease.

And after returning from South Africa, he hit the road in the U.S. for three months co-headlining on the "One Church Tour," which just ended earlier this month.

The son of an African Methodist Episcopal minister, Norful is a pastor and ministers his own church in the Chicago area, Victory Cathedral Worship Center in Bolingbrook, Ill.

As early as age 3, Norful begun to pick on melodies on the piano, and by age 4, he was playing and singing in his father's church.

He is married to wife, Carla, and they have two sons - Trey and Ashton.
