Site Helps You 'FindFido'

If you've ever lost or found a dog, there's a Web site you should know about. It's a free service called FindFido (www.findfido.com).

The site allows anyone to post a virtual flyer on the world's largest community bulletin board, the World Wide Web. If you have a dog that is lost, found or up for adoption, you can easily post the information on the site by filling out a form. All the information on findfido can be listed and searched by state, breed, or (where applicable) dog's name, and even sorted by date posted.

If you have found a dog, you can search the listings for a match, and if you are looking for a dog to adopt, you can search the database for one you want, in the area you live.

Listings are posted as they come in. Any dog owner who has a digital photo of a pet is able to send it as an attachment to appear along with the description.

The "flyer" stays up for three months, and is then taken down, unless the owner notifies findfido.com that the animal is still missing.

The site is provided by "a couple of animal lovers who thought it might be nice to do some good in this virtual world."

In addition to the free service, there is an area of "pet news", a bulletin board for those who want to become members, (also free), and a page of interesting links to other sites that dog owners may find useful.

If the response is good, findfido.com plans to offer the same service for cat owners in the future.
