The charity Sense said it is offering the copy of "Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix," signed by author J.K. Rowling, on auction site ebay. The sale runs until June 20, the day before the book's publication.
In March, a fan bid $8,000 for the volume, but Sense, which aids the blind and deaf, said it had been unable to contact the buyer.
"We are hoping to raise as much money as possible from the sale to go towards providing better services for the deaf and blind people Sense works with," said Paul Amadi, Sense's fundraising director.
The four previous Harry Potter novels have worldwide sales of more than 190 million and many readers already have ordered copies of the new book through retailers.
Within hours of the announcement in January that "Order of the Phoenix" was coming out, the book topped the best seller lists of Amazon.com and Barnes & Noble.com.
