Shooting victim dropped off at Wal-Mart in Florida

MIRAMAR, Fla. - It was strange sight at a busy Wal-Mart store in South Florida as a shooting victim was dropped off by a driver and police sealed off an area by the front of the store Monday with yellow crime scene tape, reports CBS Miami.

Miramar police spokeswoman Tania Rues told CBS Miami that the unidentified victim had been shot in a residential neighborhood not far from the Wal-Mart and then driven there.

Rues said it was not clear exactly where in Miramar the man had been shot why the driver picked Wal-Mart instead of taking the man to a hospital, reports the station.

She said he was later transported to Memorial Regional Hospital.

Part of the store was sealed off for more than an hour by crime scene tape as investigators looked at and inside the maroon Suzuki Forenza the victim was in, according to the Miami station, and just before 5 p.m. Monday, the car was towed from the scene and the tape was taken down.

Rues said she did not know the motive for the shooting, and added that the victim was not cooperating.

The Broward Sheriff's Office used its helicopter to search for the gunman, according to the station, but Rues said police do not have a good description of the suspect or suspects.

Anyone who can help Miramar Police in the case should call Broward Crime Stoppers at (954) 493-TIPS (8477).
