Sexting charges get elementary school counselor fired in South Texas

(CBS/AP) SAN ANTONIO - South Texas elementary school counselor Cynthia Stewart has been fired after she was accused of texting nude photos of herself to a 15-year-old boy.

Trustees of the San Antonio-area Judson Independent School District voted Wednesday night to dismiss the 43-year-old counselor.

Stewart had been on administrative leave from Olympia Elementary School since being charged last month with distributing obscene material to a minor and online solicitation of a minor.

Investigators say a couple of years ago, Stewart became acquainted online with the boy, who is not a Judson District student. An affidavit says he received more than 20 nude photos of Stewart.

She was arrested after the teen's parents noticed he was texting at odd hours.

Stewart has 15 days to appeal her firing.
