Seton Hall University in N.J. evacuated following online bomb threat, officials say
(CBS) SOUTH ORANGE, N.J. - Seton Hall University in South Orange, N.J. was evacuated Thursday afternoon following a bomb threat made on social media, CBS New York reports.
The university, a Catholic school of about 5,500 undergraduates some 15 miles from New York City, said it was working with South Orange police after being notified of the threat which involved planting bombs at the school, according to the station.
Seton Hall officials notified students to evacuate at around 3:30 p.m. as a precaution shortly after learning of the threat.
The university's website says all of Thursday's evening classes have been cancelled and a full sweep of all buildings on campus is being conducted.
The school emphasized that every threat is taken seriously.
