Semi Precious Weapons show their stuff online
(CBS/What's Trending) - The ever-so-fabulous glam-rockers, Semi Precious Weapons, are no strangers to what an online image should be. Take the glam of David Bowie, remnants of Freddie Mercury and high heels models wouldn't dare wear: There lies Semi Precious Weapons.
Semi Precious Weapons are straight out of New York City and bring the gritty feel of the city to everything they do. Taking the formal training three of the founding members had from the Berklee College of Music, SPW applied well-educated music minds to a sound many would not give a second thought to. The band's built in audience in NYC carried over when they fashioned themselves an overwhelming LA following after multiple gigs on The Sunset Strip.
A Twitter search for @PreciousWeapons will lead to hundreds of fans going GaGa, quite literally, over this four piece band. They blew up so quickly that they were signed to Interscope/Geffen in 2010, and were selected as Lady Gaga's opening act on the 2010 through 2011 Monster Ball Tour only two years after their first release. This tour literally put them on top of the world, playing to hundreds of thousands of people in places like Mexico City. Somehow, they managed to keep their local feel by consistently letting fans in their social networks.
The bands' active Tumblr, Twitter, Facebook, official website, YouTube channel nd multiple adoring fan sites let you know who they are with just a simple search. As their fans let them into their worlds every single day, SPW remains a steady partner in the band-fan relationship by staying connected. They provide ample content with photos, lyrics, questions, videos, and branded hashtags like #HeyJustinTranter & #MonsterWeapons.
SPW make themselves completely within reach by opening up their Wednesday night residency at the intimate venue, On The Rox, to all of their 21 and up fans online. Be warned: Audience members have been known to feel the need to jump on stage and join the dance party. At the 2010 Sunset Strip Music Festival, lead singer Justin Tranter encouraged nearly 200 fans to jump up and enjoy the limelight of the ten thousand people in attendance.
The "dirty-glam" attitude they possess and push through all of their networks is about to propel them from popular to a household name. The hushed rumors of a new demo has been fueled by lyrics recently tweeted from the band. Now, their audience has a new level of stardom to look forward to.
