See #Alabama #tornado destruction as captured by brave citizens and storm chasers

(CBS/What's Trending) The recent tornadoes that have ravaged Alabama and the south have destroyed family homes and torn apart decades-old memories.

Some brave individuals weathered the storm to capture the path of the monster tornadoes that ripped though towns and cities. Tweeting and posting the pictures and videos, they captured the onslaught of the natural disaster. Here's a few of their stories:

President Barack Obama, who visited the disaster area this morning, remarked that he had "never seen devastation like this," adding "we're going to make sure you're not forgotten.'' The storm has killed over 297 people in the southern states, with Alabama the hardest hit. According to officials in Hackleburg, Ala., dead bodies are being kept in refrigerated truck due to a body bag shortage. At least 27 people are dead there, but the search for more missing people is ongoing.

People are also using Facebook as a lost and found for items that may have been misplaced in the tornadoes. Alabama Tornados April 27, 2011 Lost and Found Items is a place for people to post found credit cards, bank check books and other important personal information, as well a place to ask about friends and relatives that haven't been heard from since the storms started.
