Secret Service: Help us catch U-Haul thief
(CBS) DETROIT - The U.S. Secret Service and police are looking for help in catching the thief who stole a U-Haul truck full of security gear that had arrived in Detroit in preparation for Vice President Biden's visit on Sunday morning, CBS Detroit reports.
The truck was loaded with high-tech security equipment belonging to the Secret Service and was stolen from a parking lot of the Westin Book Cadillac hotel in downtown Detroit. It was found on Monday at Third and Bethune in the city's New Center area.
CBS Detroit reports Secret Service spokesman Ed Donovan said that the stolen truck was found around 11:30 Monday morning in an apartment building parking lot, but not all of the equipment in it was recovered.
The truck will be taken to a federal facility where agents and the Detroit police will continue to investigate, Donovan added.
Authorities aren't releasing exactly what the truck contained or the value of the contents, but reports say that the equipment included metal detectors.
The person of interest is a black male who was wearing a green shirt and dark colored shorts, as shown in the photo above.
