(CBS) Get ready to hear the cast of "Grey's Anatomy" burst into song. Thursday's episode is a full-blown musical.

You may think: Didn't "Scrubs" do this in 2007? Why, yes!

But instead of original songs, "Grey's Anatomy" viewers will have the benefit of hearing songs they may already know. For example, Sara Ramirez, who plays Callie, will sing Brandi Carlile's "The Story," (and other songs), reports TV Guide.

According to the report, Chyler Leigh will sing Anna Nalick's "Breathe (2AM)," Jessica Capshaw will sing KT Tunstall's "Universe & U" with Ramirez and Kevin McKidd sings Gomez's "How We Operate."

A promo video for the show reveals that the episode is rooted in Callie's brain. Co-star Eric Dane calls it Callie's "out of body experience." (SPOILER: Callie has been in a horrific car accident and is on the operating table, which explains the sudden shift to musical.)

Ramirez is accomplished singer and won a Tony for her performance in "Spamalot." TV Guide reports that the cast took vocals lessons for weeks in order to prepare for the episode.
