Santoro Takes Marseille Open
France's Fabrice Santoro won the second title of his career Sunday, beating countryman Arnaud Clement 6-3, 4-6, 6-4 in the final of the Marseille Open.
The match's turning point came in the fourth game of the final set, when Clement, leading 2-1, failed to win any of his four break points.
Santoro held service before breaking Clement's service in the final game of the 2-hour, 23-minute match.
In the match between unseeded players, Santoro won an error-ridden first set in 43 minutes. In the second, Clement broke service in the third game and, after reaching set point eight times, won the set.
Santoro earned $72,000. He won his first title last year at the Lyon Open.
Clement was playing in the final of an ATP tournament for the first time.
