Sandbar Piano Gone, Replaced With Table for 2

MIAMI - A baby grand piano that mysteriously appeared on a sandbar in Florida's Biscayne Bay is now gone, but a romantic table setting for two has taken its place.

CBS Station WFOR reports that a small table set with white tablecloth, two folding chairs, a bottle of wine, flowers and a statue of a chef has been sighted on the same sandbar where 16-year-old Nicholas Harrington's baby grand piano was removed Thursday.

It's unknown who left the romantic scene.

As for the baby grand, a towing crew hired by a local musician hauled the piano away on Thursday.

Harrington stepped forward earlier week to say he put it there as an art project to promote on his college application.

State wildlife officials served Harrington with orders to remove it within 24 hours.

But Carl Bentulan hired a tow company to rescue the battered instrument for his 10-year old son.

Towing company owner Lynn Mitchell said maritime law gives possession to whoever pays to salvage something abandoned at sea.

Bentulan said he plans to eventually put the piano in his living room. He told the Miami Herald his 10-year-old son insisted the piano needed a home.

It was unclear if the Harringtons will seek custody.
